BlackBerry up for sale

Blackberry says that "now is the right time to explore strategic alternatives"
Smartphone maker Blackberry is exploring options for its business, which could see the company sold off.

Timothy Dattels, a Blackberry board member, will head a new committee that will consider different business models, including partnerships.

It wants to increase sales of its Blackberry 10 model, seen as crucial to the future of the company.

"We believe that now is the right time to explore strategic alternatives," said Mr Dattels.

"During the past year, management and the board have been focused on launching the Blackberry 10 platform and BES 10, establishing a strong financial position and evaluating the best approach to delivering long-term value for customers and shareholders."

Prem Watsa, chairman of Blackberry's largest shareholder, Fairfax Financial, resigned from the board as the formation of the committee was announced. Mr Watsa said he wanted to avoid any potential conflict of interest.

"I continue to be a strong supporter of the company, the board and management as they move forward through this process, and Fairfax Financial has no current intention of selling its shares," he said.

The company has struggled in recent years to regain market share lost to Apple and users of Google's Android operating system.

'What's on offer'

"It's quite surprising to see a statement like this made publically," said Francisco Jeronimo from the technology research firm IDC.

"Everyone knows that they've been struggling and looking at their options. It's clear that they haven't been able to find anyone who wants to buy or form a partnership.

"Blackberry has very strong assets and is one of the most recognised portfolios in the industry.

"The question now is how much they're asking and what's on offer."

Shares in the company rose by more than 5% as the news of the committee formation emerged.

The company dropped its Research in Motion name in January 2013 and rebranded as Blackberry, to coincide with the launch of the Blackberry 10 model.

In its most recent quarter, Blackberry lost $84m (£54m) and expects to lose more money in the three months to the end of September.

Sony's next step in cell phone camera

After leaking ultra-low fidelity images last month, Sony Alpha Rumors has uploaded the first high-resolution photos of Sony's new wireless "lens camera" series. The lens cameras are essentially a lens, a sensor, and all of the accouterments needed to take a photo in a single package. The cameras will reportedly click onto Android smartphones, and will connect wirelessly to allow the phone's display to work as a viewfinder.

According to Sony Alpha Rumors there'll be a range of such cameras, but the top of the crop will be based on the lens and sensor found in Sony's RX100 II camera. The site previously reported that the first lens camera would feature the same 1-Inch 20.2-megapixel Exmor R sensor and f/1.8 Carl Zeiss lens as the RX100 II.

Robert Downey Jr finally unveiled in HTC #Change ad Campaign

Looks like that was Robert Downey Jr getting off the helicopter in the vine video that HTC posted to begin their latest campaign to right their slightly shaky financial ship.

The latest ad released in the HTC #Change line is now showing on the HTC YouTube channel and is the third – or fourth if you count Vine – in a series of ads which will use Robert Downey Jr to promote HTCs products and brand.

The latest video, which shows Robert Downey Jr finally speaking, shows him apparently guessing the content of an envelope in a very Johnny Carson style psychic display – speaking his first words of the campaign – Humongous Tinfoil Catamaran. The different combinations of words starting with HTC can be seen on the HTC Homepage, where the HTC Generator will generate random combinations –
Hearty Tantalizing Chocolate – Hot Toad Cruiseliner – Hypnotic Tinsel Catamaran – Just to name a few.

According to PR Newswire, the new campaign will begin on August 15th with a new ad, which will rollout to both TV and Cinema – hello, Val Morgan cinema advertising – in three phases, the first will show off the HTC Brand and in a ‘playful’ way explore what HTC means to people. The second phase will be a closer look at the HTC Feature set and the third phase will focus on how HTC products can help in every day life.

It’s going to be a big two years for Robert Downey Jr with HTC, let’s hope it’s been $12 million well invested for the company.

How to make your non-stock Android phone look like a Google Play Edition device

Ever since the Samsung Galaxy S 4 and HTC One Google Play Edition devices launched, they’ve been all the rage. If you like the stock look, there’s a lot that you can do to make your own phone look like it’s a Google Play Edition device, even without rooting. Even better, everything in this guide includes only free apps. Jump through the break to see the best apps to download for a stock like experience.

1. Change your home screen.

There are a lot of cool options for launchers, but Nova Launcher is probably your best bet for this purpose (Play Store Download Link). Simply using the default settings of Nova immediately makes your phone look a great deal like stock.

2. Customize your “look.”

You’re also going to want to change your icons. Holo Icons is filled with stock icons, and looks great with Nova (Play Store Download Link).

You can even download stock wallpapers for an even more Play Edition experience. The Play Edition devices come with a new SunBeam live wallpaper, which you can download for your device for free (Play Store Download Link). If you’d rather have the other, non-live wallpapers that come with Jelly Bean, you can also get those in the Play Store (Play Store Download Link).

And if you want that minimalistic clock you see above, you can get that too, with Clock JB (Play Store Download Link).

3. Change your lock screen.

The lock screen is the part of your device that you see the most often. Just like launchers, there are many options for alternate lock screens as well. For the purpose of making your device look like a stock device, Holo Locker is your best option (Play Store Download Link). It has many customization options, it’s stable, and it looks cool.

4. Install Google apps.

Stock Android devices come with only Google created apps. That includes the stock keyboard, which Google released on the Play Store a few months ago. Also make sure you have Gmail, Maps, Chrome, Calendar, and any other Google apps you desire. You can find them all in the Play Store through this link.

You’ll probably notice that there are some stock apps that are on stock devices, but that Google hasn’t released to the Play Store. You’re not going to be able to find all of them, but some, like the Camera app, complete with the awesome Photo Sphere feature (Download Link) and the Dialer (Download Link) have been leaked for you to enjoy.

5. Make all of these apps default, and disable bloatware.

While setting up these apps, some will prompt you to make it the default app, but others will not. Make sure you make all of them default, so they will open automatically whenever you want to use them. You can do that using a very useful app called Default App Manager (Download Link).

If your device isn’t stock, it comes with a lot of your carrier and manufacturer’s bloatware. Without rooting, it’s hard to get rid of it all, but if you go into Settings / Apps, you can individually tap on the bloat apps and manually disable them. Also, if you’re using Nova Launcher, you can upgrade to the premium version and make them disappear from your app drawer and have them out of sight.

So the next time your whip out your phone, your friends will be envious of your new “Google Play Edition” phone, but you will know better. Sure it it isn’t the real deal and you won’t get updates as fast, but you can still enjoy some of the special manufacturer add-ons not found in the GPE phones. You really get the best of both worlds this way – the pure Google experience, while still enjoying your manufacturer’s bonus features.

Lately, i'm very busy setting my onlineshop Kimkim Shop. Although so many services for creating onlineshop with affordable prices, but I chose to make it on my own using CMS, i know that services for creating onlineshop website today only using modified CMS.

OK, back to the main topic, as I promised few days ago, I will review some of the pizzas are sold in Jogja, the first review is Nanamia Pizzeria, and today review is the Zango Express.

Zango locations in Jl. Demangan Baru no.18. Actually this is the second branch that recently open. The first branch in Jln. Ngadinegaran MJ III/122.

The situation in the restaurant, the ceiling design is quite unique, that's why me dan my BF decided to try.

We were there just before the Eid holiday, the atmosphere is very crowded, it looks like a lot of visitors who are curious about the new restaurant. But the atmosphere is quite comfortable and there is also live music.

We decided to order a pizza because the price is quite cheap compared to other menus, and I also really like pizza. the service is quite fast, although the situation is quite crowded.

We ordered Pizza Hot Chilli, like most pizza is sold at jogja, this pizza type is italian pizza, with a thin dough. Taste is delicious, satisfying

I think the price for pizza menu is not expensive. and it was delicious. Recommended to try ^^

Google Latitude is out - Locations in Google+ is in

Google Latitude will be shut down on August 9th reports Google. Google seems to be in the mode of shutting down their services lately. With the July 1st shutdown of Google Reader a lot of consumers are getting concerned. The good news is that with the shutdown of Google Latitude we have been given a replacement.

Google Latitude is a feature that has lived inside of Google Maps mobile applications that allowed you to share your location with specific friends. Ultimately, Google Latitude was its own mini social network as you were able to send Latitude friend requests etc. It makes natural sense that Google would move this into Google+.

Google+ now includes “Locations.” Locations works in almost the exact same way as Latitude. It allows you to determine which individuals or circles, within your Google+, you would like to share your location with. I can see this as a very effective tool for companies, groups, or organizations who can setup a circle with the specific team, supervisor, or group with whom they need to keep tabs on each other’s locations.

The interface feels very Latitudish to me. You can see the icon with the Google+ profile picture of those contacts who have shared their location with you over a Google Map. You can also invite your circles or Google+ connections to share their location with you.

Currently the new Google+ Locations has only been added to the Google+ Android app but Google suggests it will be added to iOS shortly.

Nanamia Pizzeria Jln. Moses Review

Is there anyone here who loves pizza so much like me? I will review some of the pizza restaurant in Jogja, but I'm not going to review the pizza hut, it seems almost everyone has tried pizza hut hahaha

The first pizza review is Nanamia Pizzeria, this is map location :

It seems Nanania always crowded everyday. table provided quite a lot but 90% is filled. When you're in Nanamia, you will see a lot of foreign tourists, and very few local guests. I felt i'm in italy hahaha >.< because i see so many Western tourists and Nanamia always play latin songs.

I see there are a few local guests, but they are usually with her/his Western tourists friends. There is also the group's of Korean, I could hear them talking Korean language.

Nanamia List Menu :

After a long wait, finally my pizza orders came. I think, don't comes to Nanamia at dinner time, because at dinner time the restaurant was very crowded and the serving time is too long.

The pizza I order is "Giovanni" large size (IDR 53,000). Pizza in Nanamia is a type of Italian pizza with thin and crispy dough

I feel a little disappointed because there is little burnt, as you can see in the photo. but the taste is still delicious. Mozzarella cheese flavour on pizza is dominant, salami pieces not much, but I think its enough. The price is standart, not too expensive.

Overall? Recomended to try ^^
