Samsung Galaxy S3 update has been a source of frustration for many of the device’s owners, but it seems that after the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch and Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was announced, hope has arrived. There will be an Android 4.3 update. The issue now is if users will take the information at face value.
According to Samsung during the launch of the new devices in Berlin last week, Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy S4 owners will get the Android 4.3 update this October, Android Authority reported.
Samsung Galaxy S3 launched in 2012 with the Android 4.04 Ice Cream Sandwich and during the summer, received access to the Android 4.1.2 update. The update, however, wasn’t without problems, Android Authority said. Users who upgraded their OS experienced LTE connectivity issues. New features, however, that Android 4.1.2 brought were Multi-Window, multitasking, Multi-Screen and S Beam’s Auto Share Shot. Big Red carrier, Verizon, pulled the update and within a couple of weeks released a new one that
fixed the 4G issues.
After Verizon pulled the update, the persistent rumors have been that Samsung Galaxy S3 will receive the Android 4.2.2 update.
Android 4.3 is still sourced out from Android Jelly Bean, together with Android 4.1 and 4.2, noted Android Authority. The new features it brings include restricted profiles, Bluetooth 4.0 low-energy support, Open GL 3.0 support, and a T9 dialer. There has also been improvement in terms of notifications for the device.
The confirmation from Samsung has been the most concrete news that would hopefully alleviate the mounting frustration numerous Samsung Galaxy S3 owners have over the S3 update.
