Microsoft's next Surface tablet may debut with a white color variant. Paul Thurrott reports that he has "seen images of a white version of the device," where the front bezels of the device are still black. Microsoft has offered a range of colors for its Touch Cover accessories, but the company only ships a black model at the moment. Thurrott also claims the Surface 2, which will run on Windows RT 8.1 and drop the RT moniker, will also be powered by Nvidia's Tegra 4 and a 1080p display. Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang previously revealed the chipmaker is working with Microsoft on the next-generation Surface.

The Surface 2 will allegedly run for around 8 hours on battery, and a recently leaked Power Cover accessory will work on the device to boost its battery life. The weight and thickness is said to be identical to the existing Surface RT tablet, and Microsoft has built in a two-stage kickstand to make it more usable at different angles. If Microsoft does bring a white Surface 2 to market, then it may just match the company's recently revealed Xbox One console in white. The variant is designed for Xbox employees, but Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb has hinted the company could release it "waaaay in the future."
